A young woman from Maheshwar in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, Monalisa Bhonsle, who came into the spotlight after a viral video during the Mahakumbh, is once again making headlines. This time, the reason is her personal life. According to reports, Monalisa has married her boyfriend Farman Khan in a temple in Kerala against the wishes of her family. Following the incident, there is deep anger and sadness within her family and community.
Father’s Allegation: “My Daughter Was Taken Away Before My Eyes”
Monalisa’s father, Jaysingh Bhonsle, claims that on March 2, a few people came to Maheshwar from Kerala. They promised to help Monalisa get work in films and provide acting training. Trusting their words, he accompanied his daughter to Kerala.
According to Jaysingh, the situation changed suddenly after reaching Kerala. There, Monalisa got married to a young man present with them, Farman Khan. When he opposed the marriage and asked his daughter to return home, she refused.
Police Response: She Is an Adult and Free to Marry
The father said he also filed a complaint at a police station in Kerala. However, the police clarified that Monalisa is over 18 years old and legally free to marry anyone of her choice. Therefore, they refused to intervene in the matter.
A distressed father said that he is not highly educated and cannot understand how everything changed so quickly. He even expressed suspicion that someone might have influenced his daughter through “black magic” or psychological manipulation.
Fear That Her Film Career May Be Affected
Jaysingh Bhonsle also mentioned that his daughter had received some money after signing a film project, but most of it was spent on travel, accommodation, and training. The family had hoped she would progress in the film industry and bring recognition to the family.
He said he went to Kerala believing that his daughter would receive acting training and get more film opportunities. However, the events that unfolded there left him completely shattered.
Anger and Disappointment in Maheshwar
Monalisa’s family lives in Ward No. 9 of Maheshwar, a well-known tourist town in Khargone district. They belong to the Pardhi community, which traditionally travels to different places selling rudraksha and stone bead necklaces.
Since the news of Monalisa’s marriage spread, many members of the community have been gathering outside the family’s home. Several women and young girls have expressed sadness, saying they had hoped to see Monalisa become a film heroine and were surprised by her sudden decision.
Media Gathered Outside the House
As soon as the news of her marriage to a Muslim youth spread on social media, media personnel began gathering outside Monalisa’s house in Maheshwar. For the past two days, journalists have been trying to speak with the family.
It is reported that when Monalisa’s father returned to Maheshwar on Thursday afternoon, he entered the house through a back route to avoid the media and refused to speak to most reporters. He shared his statement with only a limited media outlet.
Father Appeals to the Chief Minister
In an emotional appeal, the father said that his daughter had gained recognition across the country through social media, and the family believed she could become a successful actress in the future.
He has now requested the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to ensure his daughter’s safety and investigate the entire incident, stating that he finds the situation suspicious.

At present, Monalisa’s family remains in deep shock. Her father says there is little they can do now. He added that if his daughter has made her decision, he only hopes that her future remains safe and that she progresses in life.
